The Rat is Loudoun's second largest rollercoaster and forms part of the Dougal McDougal's Farm line-up.

It may look tame compared to Twist and Shout but it's just as intense and the twisting, turning layout makes for a very bumpy ride!

The cars first climb to the top of the ride and speed along the twisting track on the top. They then turn and drop down to another layer, below the first track, following many bumps and tight corners along the way to the brake track.

Built by German engineering company Maurer Söhne, In 2005 The Rat was the second rollercoaster to be installed by Henk Bembom at Loudoun Castle.

Height = 50ft

The Rat is a steel Wild Mouse design of rollercoaster and it sits on same spot of land which was once home to Loudoun's old wooden Wild Mouse rollercoaster, the Wilde Maus.

On Monday the 16th of July 2007, park employee Mark Blackwood died of injuries resulting from a fall from the ride the previous day. He had been pushing one of the cars which had become stuck, and lost his footing.
